I went to visit Little Miss K in Ithaca for Fourth of July weekend where I was to play housewife for a bit. To welcome me, she had her hitachi and her new ‘The Four & Twenty Blackbirds Pie Cook Book‘ placed on her freshly made bed.
One of my duties as housewife was to bake Little Miss K a pie. Lucky for me, I persuaded one of her dinner guests to come over the next day and sit in it for a photo shoot. Because what fun is pie if you don’t get to enjoy it FULLY?
While K was hesitant to sit in a pie, Ruby Gorges was eager to. She helped me illustrate my philosophy, that any hole can be a pie hole if you try hard enough. Watching Ruby Gorges sit in the pie almost made the four hours it took to make it worthwhile.
(Before sitting in the pie, make sure it is fully cooled to avoid a rather awkward visit to the ER. Ruby Gorges recommends the ‘two in the goo’ method, where you gently slide two fingers into the center of the pie to make sure that it is a comfortable sitting temperature.)
