The world truly is small. I met ‘c’ when my friend from Philly was visiting me. I went down to meet him on the corner and he informed me that his slave lived across the street. We stood on my street corner, as he texted her, told her to go to the window and show her breasts. She complied, and that is how I got to know my neighbor ‘c’.
Having a neighbor that you can ask for a cup of sugar or ask to show you their tits is a good neighbor indeed. I come from a very tight-knit Jewish community. My favorite childhood tradition was helping my mom make people food when they were sick. When I found out ‘c’ was having her hip replaced, I knew that I wanted to cook for her and to check out her new scar. This is the Curried Honey Sweet Potato soup recipe that I came up with.
Curried Honey Sweet Potato Soup:
-This recipe is a bit of a fly by the seat of your pants recipe, and it’s contents can be swapped out to your taste as long as the ratio remains 50:50 veggie and broth.
-Cut up one onion and place in hot, oiled pan (deep enough to make soup and insert an immersion blender) until translucent. Cut up 2 large sweet potatoes and add to the pot. Add in 2 stalks of celery, 2 small russet potatoes and a heaping tablespoon of yellow curry powder. Add in light chicken broth so that it covers all of the vegetables. Cover and cook until potatoes fall apart. Blend smooth, and add in a swirl of honey and salt and pepper to taste.
-Optional add a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of diced chives and paprika as garnish.
